The ‘Nakasendo’ was one of several routes that the samurai and their families took to visit the Edo shogunate from their fiefdoms during the Edo period, connecting Kyoto, the ancient capital, and Tokyo.
The ‘Nakasendo’ passes through Mt. Fuji and the mountainous Kiso area, which has led to the route being called “Kisoji”. There were 67 post stations along the route, and many of the outpost towns gave preserved their historic appearance and charm.
After arriving in the capital of Tokyo, the tour will take you along the ‘Nakasendo’ where you will visit Lake Kawaguchi and enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Fuji. The tour continues along the Nakasendo until Magome Jyuku, which retains the ambience of the Edo-era.
Next, you will enjoy staying in the former Japanese capital city of Kyoto and the feudal castle town of Himeji. The end of your journey will bring you to Osaka, the second largest city in Japan, where you will spend one night.
